Advice on: Using Hooks

It's time. Time to get hooked. To hook up. To hook it up. Hooks are extremely helpful when it comes to getting organized. They're a great way to utilize empty wall space (either in your closet, in your room, or behind doors) and create an easy-to-look-at display of your belongings. In the organizing world, we talk about "filing, not piling" (you like that, don't you?). Well, I think we can take that to another level. Make a minor adjustment to the phrase. Let's get "hooking, not piling." Granted, it doesn't have the same ring to it, but hear me out. Do you have sweatshirts, handbags, scarves, and/or jewelry strewn about your room? Creating piles, maybe? Grab a hammer and some hooks (you can even use long nails if you don't want to make the trip to Home Depot) and hang that shiz up! Find a good spot in your closet where you can line up a few hooks and hang your purses and scarves. Guys, you can use hooks for your murses belts or ties. Now add a couple of hooks to the back of your door. This is another great place to hang sweatshirts or coats so they won't find a home on the floor or in that chair over there by the corner of your room.

To organize your jewelry, you can get a bit more creative and turn your necklaces, bracelets and earrings into a micro art display. Just grab a slab of wood, paint it as you like, bedazzle it with crystals and rhinestones, add a bunch of nails to it, nail the wood to the wall, and VIOLA!, you've got a nice way to hang up your bling. This will also help keep all the chains from getting tangled and creating a lump of unwearable jewelry.

Don't be afraid. Don't be lazy. Now, go get hooked!
