Shower-Cleaning Done Right
Raise your hand if you know your tub or shower walls shouldn't look like that but have no idea what to do about it!
(*All raise hands*)
First of all, I hear you and I'm not just saying that to make me more relatable. My hand is up too. Tubs and showers are tough and the grime and buildup that grows in there requires constant maintenance. So when you get to the point where you're totally fed up and ready to conquer this monster, keep this in mind:
Did you catch that? If you've been going at the mess with a sponge or paper towel, think again. Scour pads. It's that scratchy texture that's imperative and the difference between winning and losing. So spray down your tub and shower walls with your preferred spritz (personally, I use a simple vinegar + water solution) and grab a scour pad. And I hate to break it to you, but a mild swipe-swipe isn't going to cut it. Get into weight lifting mode and use those muscles and SCRUB. Put on some music if it'll help.
While we're at it, I'll throw some other clean tub/shower tips your way and you can shop around, see which ones resonate or try 'em all out!
- Scrub while you're showering. As crazy as it seems, this is a great time to clean your tub especially if you use a natural cleaner (some vinegar on your toes won't kill ya). The steam will help loosen up the grime and it won't matter if you break a sweat while scrubbing. Tryyyy it.
- Keep a small squeegee in your shower. Drying the walls with a squeegee when you're done showering can be the difference between lots of buildup and none at all. So this is a nice habit to try to take on.
- Use baking soda + vinegar for tougher stains. Create a paste using baking soda and vinegar and let it sit on the tiles for 10-20 minutes. Then scrub it down with a scour pad and wash off with warm water. Easy-peasy-breezy.
